GARAGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
Multi-bay automotive repair facilities handling high vehicle turnover, parts ordering, and complex technician scheduling.
What is the product / business?
Multi-bay automotive repair facilities handling high vehicle turnover, parts ordering, and complex technician scheduling.
What friction existed?
Operations were bottlenecked by paper job cards, disconnected tyre inventory spreadsheets, and disjointed communication between service advisors, technicians, and car owners.
How did people work before?
Service advisors manually relayed updates between the workshop floor and customers via phone and WhatsApp. Stock levels were periodically miscounted, leading to delayed repair jobs and customer frustration.
What did I design & build?
Designed and built a centralized operational platform coordinating bay scheduling, real-time vehicle diagnostics logs, tyre & parts inventory tracking, and automated customer status updates.
What did I personally execute?
Led frontend architecture and application development, designed the interactive bay scheduling board, integrated vehicle diagnostic workflows, and coordinated real-time state synchronization across devices.
Core stack & architectural decisions
FRONTEND
- React
- TypeScript
- Tailwind CSS
BACKEND & DATA
- NestJS
- PostgreSQL
- TypeORM
INTEGRATIONS
- Twilio SMS API
- Diagnostic OBD Interface
Critical choices made during development
Prioritized a visual, touch-friendly bay board tailored for workshop terminals rather than a dense data grid.
Decoupled inventory reservation logic from final invoice creation so parts could be locked as soon as diagnostics were confirmed.
Implemented optimistic UI updates for bay dispatching to avoid latency during peak morning drop-offs.
Verified Impact
Unified repair tracking, parts allocation, and customer notifications into one reliable system, eliminating whiteboard scheduling and manual stock reconciliation.
Takeaway
In hands-on operational environments, UX speed and clear status visibility matter far more than complex configuration options.
